- This position pilots and commands utility/observation helicopters under combat and noncombat conditions, and transports passengers, cargo or mail for military purposes.
- OH-58 pilots also supervise aircraft maintenance and oversee loading and unloading to ensure load stability balance and adherence to aircraft load limitations. They may function as service school instructors for aviators or serve in aircraft procurement activities.
